1st assistant Gardens and Landscapes Manager
Leicester City Football Club is an English professional football club based in Leicester in the East Midlands. The club competes in the Premier League, England's top division of football, and plays its home games at the King Power Stadium.
Leicester City have an exciting opportunity to join their award winning Sports Turf and Grounds team as the department begins building a staffing structure to support the operation of its new World Class training facility.
This role will offer the candidate the opportunity to support the Gardens and Landscapes Manager and assist with leading a team across all associated Landscapes ensuring that the highest standards are adhered to, protocols are followed and the team is led by example as we push to ensure this world class facility meets the needs of all players and staff.
To assist the Gardens and Landscape Manager in managing staff and implementing an effective work programme to present the landscaped areas to an exceptionally high standard across LCFC’s sites, whilst ensuring the clubs values and expectations are met.
Key tasks include but not limited to:
> Tasks to include but not limited to mowing, hedge trimming, weeding, planting, watering and maintenance of the clubs off pitch areas, borders and planted areas.
> To work with the Gardens and Landscape Manager to effectively plan for the management of all landscape areas under the gardening teams’ remit.
> To assist in the supervision of the gardening team.
> To support members of the gardening team to ensure key work objectives are met.
> To lead by example when approaching day to day works and maintaining a high standard of presentation and housekeeping.
> To take the lead in the Gardens and Landscape Managers absence.

> Hold An industry recognised Horticultural qualification.
> Have at least 3 years experience working within horticulture.
> To possess high levels of enthusiasm and a good knowledge of plants, shrubs, trees and planting schemes.
> To have excellent communication skills and a good ability to both delegate and carry out instructions.
> Have an excellent attention to detail.
> Competence with machinery/equipment use and maintenance; including tractors and attachments, pedestrian, ride-on mowers and other grounds maintenance machinery.
> Competent in using computer programmes such as Microsoft word and excel.
> Should always have a professional appearance and outlook.
> The ability to work as part of a team from both the Horticulture and Sports Turf departments but also on their own with good initiative.
> To possess strong time management skills and excellent time keeping.
> Show honesty, integrity and reliability when carrying out day to day work and lead from the front.
> Have a flexible attitude to work and understand the need to work evenings and weekends.
> To be able to multi-task and perform well under pressure, to tight deadlines and high standards.
> A commitment to continuing professional development.
> A full clean driving license
> To have held a similar position for at least 2 years.
> An interest and understanding of good environmental practices
> Chainsaw license
> PA1, PA2 and PA6 qualifications in spraying
> To undertake required training, including mandatory Club Equality and Diversity and Health and Safety training.
> To ensure that the Club’s Safe-guarding and Vulnerable Adults policies and procedures are always adhered to.
> To adhere and communicate the Club’s brand values to stakeholders whenever the opportunity arises
