Deputy Head Groundsperson / Propogation Manager
Huntingdon Town Council was formed in 1982, with its offices located within the Grade II* listed, Town Hall. The Town Council represents the first tier of local government in Huntingdon which is closest to its electors. Employing just over thirty staff in total, the Town Council consists of nineteen Councillors elected for a four-year term to represent constituents in the town’s eight wards.
Will need to innovative, forward thinking and proactive. Experienced in propagation, with track record horticultural achievement and committed to public services
> Deputise for the Head Groundsperson
> Ensure that the Council conducts its business lawfully
> Provides all of the Town Council’s summer & winter bedding, perennials, herbaceous, shrubs and trees.
> Provide pot plants for the Crematorium and council offices
> Team player
> Actively participates in Anglia In Bloom
> Proactively assist with support, guidance and training of the Horticultural Apprentices
> Communicate the Council's decisions
> Organise and manage the provision of the Council services
> Organise and oversee the implementation of projects
> Manage and lead the staff when appropriate
> Communicate and promote the Council services and facilities
> Keep property registers and other legal documents
> Keep up to date by undertaking required training/qualification.
> Driving Licence
> Horticultural experience / qualifications
> Evidence of volume bedding production.
> Ability to work to time scale and as a team.
> Takes responsibility for ‘getting things done’
> Supervisory experience
> Understanding of issues in local government
